| EXTENDICARE Extend your Potential! |
A subsidiary of Extendicare, Extendicare Canada Inc. (ECI) operates 78 nursing and retirement centres across Canada with capacity for approximately 11,100 beds, and manages one chronic care hospital in Ontario.
Public Health Nursing
Our professional nursing staff offers client-centered services 24 hours a day. We nurture a commitment to a resident’s daily health and welfare. Whether it is in long-term care, short-stay beds, convalescent care or assisted living, our services require skilled professionals.
ECI nurses have top assessment and time management skills in addition to their capable health provision abilities.
These crucial skills are applied in different settings and circumstances in a variety of roles and responsibilities;
|
this may include assisting residents to transition from hospital beds to recuperation facilities, developing a resident’s care plan, or supervising an entire unit.
Our homes maintain a budget for nurses’ education and training to ensure that they are prepared to address our residents’ continually evolving needs. Moreover, opportunities are provided each year to attend conferences and to become certified in a specific area of medical care. There are a variety of career advancement roles for nurses at Extendicare, including Director of Care and Administrator positions.
At Extendicare, our culture is based on Courtesy, Attitude, Responsibility and Excellence - C.A.R.E. When you join the Extendicare team, you join a team that values both our clients and each other and you join a workplace where you will feel valued and appreciated.

ParaMed is an operating division of Extendicare (Canada) Inc. and has been providing a wide range of home health care and workplace health and wellness services since 1974. ParaMed provides high quality 24-hour comprehensive home health care, elderly care and support services in homes across Canada. In Addition, our teams of highly-skilled professionals offer health care services such as health and wellness and immunization clinics and corporate wellness education programs in many environments. ParaMed is also involved in providing health record clearance for clinical pre-placements through the Requisite Program.
Orientation begins with a generic level of familiarization, and advances into the Standardized Nursing Orientation Program. Upon completion, RNs and RPNs will have the resources and support to begin their role as a nurse, including a preceptorship experience, skills development training and an established learning plan.
|
Learning is rewarding and at ParaMed applying new knowledge can offer a gratifying challenge.
At ParaMed Home Health Care, our goal is to assist clients to get better and achieve a functioning level of independence. Assigned nurses enter homes prepared to make a holistic assessment and work with clients in developing a health plan conducive to their needs. Nurses work within dedicated interdisciplinary teams of health professionals, family members and other care providers.
ParaMed offers their nurses the opportunity for career advancement into one of our many leadership roles. In addition, we encourage participation at annual conferences that strengthen our nurses’ knowledge base. Nurses are able to attend these educational gatherings to interact with colleagues in a positive environment that facilitates sharing information. The learning at ParaMed is an ongoing process so that our nurses continually feel competent in carrying out their work.
|

ParaMed nurses become knowledgeable in community and workplace health and wellness services, and create the best possible outcomes that enhance the quality of life and well-being for all clients. By helping people achieve their health care needs, ParaMed nurses experience the rewarding outcomes in assisting their clients to Get Better.
