Job Summary
Reporting to the Nurse Manager for assigned area or designate, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision and coordination of care to clients as a primary care giver within the Health Care Team consistent with the mission and philosophy of the West Coast General Hospital and within the scope of nursing practice, as outlined in the Standards for Nursing Practice of the Registered Nurses' Association of British Columbia and the Canadian Nurses Association. The Registered Nurse uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, and functions as a member of the health care team while fulfilling the responsibilities of an individual practitioner. Provides guidance and work direction to assigned staff as requested.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience
• Graduation of an approved school of nursing with current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC).
• Current Level "C" CPR Certification.
• Current ACLS Certification.
• One (1) year of recent Emergency or ICU/CCU experience plus post basic critical care/emergency specialty education such as BCIT Specialty Program, OR demonstrated competency through an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Demonstrated Skills and Abilities
• Ability to provide nursing care to Emergency/ Ambulatory Care clients, consistent with Nursing Practice Standards, Protocols and Regulations as required in the hospital and the clinical setting.
• Ability to provide support to and break relief to ICU, PAR, and other units.
• Ability to foster good public relations and establish respectful relationships with clients, co-workers and other health care team members.
• Ability to function in a multidisciplinary environment as a team member.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Other abilities as per job description.
