POSITION: TWO (2) PERMANENT PART TIME REGISTERED NURSES
DEPARTMENT: COMPLEX CONTINUING CARE / REHABILITATION
IP COMPLEXCARE A (PALLIATIVE) AND IP COMPLEXCARE B (DEMENTIA)
SITE: NBRHC – NORTH BAY
HOURS: ALL SHIFTS AS REQUIRED (8 and 12 hour shifts)
Position Summary
Registered Nurses (RN) provide the full range of care requirements from the least to the most complex patient situations and conditions (CNO Standards).
The Registered Nurse assumes a leadership role on the health care team and is responsible and accountable for the co-ordination and delivery of quality patient care based on the Standards of Nursing Practice, utilizing the nursing process. The Registered Nurse supports the vision of the North Bay General Hospital by being proactive in the provision of innovative, quality, patient centered care in response to individual and community needs and the changing health care environment. The Registered Nurse carries out the responsibilities as delegated by the Unit Leader/Resource Nurse.
Qualifications and Technical Competencies
• Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required
• Current BCLS Certificate required
• Recent medical / clinical experience (within the last 2-3 years) in an active care setting required
Current certificate in I.V. Therapy required
Experience in Complex Continuing /Rehabilitation Care required
Semi-Automatic Defibrillation required or willing to certify
• Relevant nursing skills such as sponge vac management required
• Recent Palliative and Geriatric Nursing experience an asset
• Ability to effectively provide health teaching to individuals and groups required
• Ability to effectively assume a leadership role as a collaborative member of the health team required
• Ability to assume responsibility for patient care in a total patient care climate required
• Ability to meet the physical demands required to provide nursing care to medical patients required
• Excellent level of interpersonal skills required
• Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills required
• Computer literacy required
• Good attendance and work record required
• Must demonstrate commitment to ensure their safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
• Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
• Bilingualism (English/French) is asset
