POSITION SUMMARY
•         Provision of nursing care to meet the Standards of Practice of College of Nurses.
•         Collaboration within an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, involving the patient and family.
•         Act as a liaison for patients/families with members of the health care team.
•         Work collaboratively to identify and implement process improvements to better meet the needs of patients and families.
•         Maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
•         Participation in various hospital committees and quality improvement initiatives.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
•         Current Certificate of Competence as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
•         BScN preferred.
•         Current BCLS certification.
•         Current Certification in Venipuncture.
•         2 years recent surgical experience within the past  3 years.
•         Health teaching skills that demonstrate broad surgical nursing knowledge.
•         Demonstrated problem solving skills.
•         Excellent computer skills.
•         Member of RNAO preferred.
•         Satisfactory attendance.
•         Demonstrated strong leadership qualities.
•         Strong personal commitment to excellence in patient and family centered care and Continuous Quality Improvement.
•         Demonstrated skills in collaboration with other disciplines.
•         Responsiveness to best meet the needs of both the patient and their family.
•         Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
•         Shows initiative and self-direction.
•         Excellent assessment skills.
•         Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills.
•         Demonstrated conflict management and conflict resolution skills.
