Reporting to the Program Director, the responsibility of the Registered Nurse is the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to patients in order to attain or maintain optimal function.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required:
• Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario registration or eligibility
• Current IV Therapy certification
• Current DMA certification
• Current certification in:
o ACLS
o PALS
o BCLS
o CTAS
• Two years recent Emergency/Critical Care experience
• Willingness to escort patients via ambulance services when required
• Willingness to flex time to meet unit, staff and patient needs
• Willingness to work in a team environment and contribute to continuous quality improvement
• Ability to work all shifts
• Knowledge of and adherence to GBHS Core Behaviours
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
• Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
• Participation in staff meetings and unit specific projects
• Ability and willingness to ensure patient safety e.g. “following routine practices and practicing diligent hand washing, completing patient risk assessments, reporting adverse events”

Preferred:
• First Net Training
• Physical Assessment course
• TNCC or equivalent
• ENC(C)
• Coronary Care Level 1
• PACU experience an asset
